This body of land is located in central Baraga County, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This boreal ecosystem is bounded by the Keweenaw Bay on the west and the Huron Bay on the east. Considered a very special place by the Ojibwa who fished, hunted, and camped here for generations, it remained mostly untouched until the late 1800s.
